Songs of Hope and Protest was a collaboration between the UEA research project, Our Subversive Voice: the history and politics of the English protest song.
Staged with the support of the National Centre for Writing the project resulted in six free, hour-long shows in Norwich parks and open spaces in June 2022. The show featured 14 protest songs interwoven with a historical-satirical narrative, three of them our own.
To access some of the songs join The Common Lot online and download our songbook.
The Our Subversive Voice project has a brilliant website, full of fascinating English protest songs from the middle ages to now.
